We have been keeping track of the PSA World Tour’s CCI International Tournament in India:
After exciting gameplay from all players, a few ties, an unexpected injury, and an Egypt vs. Egypt final match up, the CCI Final was held on November 28th.
Ranked Number 18 in the world by PSA, Egyptian Fares Dessouky took on his Egyptian compatriot Mohamed Abouelghar (ranked number 21 in the world). The exciting five-game battle of wills took place at the 2016 CCI International JSW ISC, PSA M50 Tournament at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai, India.
Summary of the Final
The opening game between the two Egyptians had Dessouky coming out on top (11-9) after many well-constructed rallies. However, Abouelghar leveled it out in the second in front of the packed crowd at the Cricket Club of India after controlling the ball in the front of the court for an 8-11 victory.
The third game pulled Dessouky in front again in a 11-6 victory only to increase the drama in the CCI as the fourth game saw Abouelghar restore the balance once again with a 7-11 equalizer.
This brought the two top finalist to the fifth and final game, where the gameplay was a nail biter. With excellent gameplay from Fares Dessouky, he pulled ahead of Mohamed Abouelghar once again and took the fifth game in a no-doubter 11-5 victory.
This 70 minute finals brought Dessouky his second PSA World Tour title of his career as he claimed the PSA M50 title.
