2017 Windy City Open, Presented by Guggenheim Partners and EquiTrust Life Insurance Company — Chicago, Illinois

CHICAGO, ILL — Yesterday, on February 24th, defending male champion of the Windy City Open in Chicago, Illinois, Mohamed ElShorbagy, played powerhouse player Paul Coll of New Zealand in one of the best squash matches to ever grace the University Club of Chicago.

This start to the thrilling Windy City Open was an epic 94-minute, five-setter encounter that included rally after rally between the World No.1 ElShorbagy of Egypt and No.16 in the world Paul Coll of New Zealand. The two popular and well-respected players engaged in high quality squash play from start. However, it was after ElShorbagy saved two game balls in the opener who looked to be on his way to victory.

However, through determination and strength, Paul Coll battled through after ElShorbagy won the first two game, and rallied to take the third and fourth games. This forced a decider game, where the excitement was palpable in the air at the University Club of Chicago.

Racing into an initial 3-0 lead in the fifth game, Coll continued his domination of the second half — until ElShorbagy took one last charge, managing to squeeze out the decider 11-7 to win his opening game after an exhausting but exhilarating 94 minutes.
